Pardon The Mess

Work In Progress

We’re still working on getting the new site up to speed.

Thank you for your patience while we build our new site and get everything sorted out moving to our new membership software. We appreciate your patience in the event you run into any problems.

If you do have issues, please contact us on our Facebook page or by email at info@gpms.diy

February Annual Meeting

Our Annual meeting will be Wednesday February 25th at 6:30

At this meeting, we review the past year, have our annual reports, elect new officers, and occasionally welcome new members.

Starting with this meeting, we will also be moving our meetings back to the 4th Wednesday of the month.

As always, our meetings are open to the public and those interested in the MakerSpace are encouraged to join us.

January Board Meeting

Our next board meeting will be January 27th at 6:30 in the Main Room.

As always, these meetings are open to the public, though we encourage anyone with business they’d like to discuss with us to let a board member know so that we can add it to our agenda.

February will be our Annual Board meeting for the election of officers.

Overnight Building Closure

The space will be closed overnight the night of January 3rd as it will be used by our local Cubscout Den for a camp in, and will need to be restricted to participants only for their camping time.

It’s expected that they will need to lock the doors around 10pm on the 3rd, and will be done around 7am on the 4th.

The Cubscouts will also be in the building throughout the day working on their projects and activities.

xTool P2S Laser Engraver

Xtool P2S

The xTool P2S was acquired through a generous grant from WKCF and has quickly become one of the busiest devices in the Fab Lab. The xTool can handle a wide range of materials, including wood, leather, glass, coated metals, stone, and others.

We also have several attachments to extend it’s abilities.

The Rotary Tool attachment allows engraving on rounded objects like tumblers, dowels, bottles, and vases.

The conveyor attachment allows longer materials to be fed through in order to cut or engrave pieces that otherwise would not fit within the work area.

The riser base allows for cutting deeper/taller objects that may otherwise not fit.

GPMS does require members to take training in order to use the xTool safely and effectively.

Thank You to WKCF for their generous grant that helped us acquire this great machine.

New Miter Saw

Wood Lab Upgrade!

The old Chicago miter saw was donated to the makerspace before we opened our building. It cut just about every piece of wood for the 20 tables we made for labs. It served us well, but has finally been retired. In its place we have a beautiful new one!

Wood lab coordinator, Tim Hanigan, was able to get the makerspace a top-of-the-line saw. It is a DeWalt compound miter saw with a 12 inch, double-bevel, sliding blade. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out.

We will not require training for the new tool since it operates much like its predecessor as well as the smaller one we have. However, if you’d like training, or have questions, please reach out to Tim or any board member for help.
